Hi MLL Softball Families!

We have been working hard to finalize rosters and get our Fall Ball season off the ground!  Majors and AAA teams should expect to hear from their managers by the end of the week.  AA, A and Transition by early next week.  First games will be after Labor Day.  

Our Fall Ball season is traditionally more developmental and less competitive than the spring season.  For example, we do not keep standings and there are stricter pitching limits to ensure many girls get to pitch.  With that in mind, we are pleased to offer extra development & training opportunities for our players.  These training clinics are a key differentiator for MLL's program versus other little leagues.  We highly encourage you to participate!

(1) CATCHING & SKILLS CLINIC @ MLL  (Coach Carolyn and Coach Richie)

Coach Carolyn Ruwe and Coach Richie Jacobs of R&R Fastpitch Development partnered with MLL to offer a fantastic summer clinic for our players.  They are back this fall for a catching and skills clinic!  Their flyer with the link to register is attached.   fall 2024 rr fastpitch clinic.pdf

The basic details are:

Registrants will select any 6 Sundays September 8 - October 27 (8 weeks) -- Location:  MLL Field 2

Cost will be 

$40 for 1 session (40 x 6 wks) = $240

$30 for 2 sessions (60 x 6 wks) = $360

Hour/Session 1 (4:00 - 5:00pm):  A & AA catching

Hour/Session 2 (5:00 - 6:00pm):  Skills variety (will work a mix of throwing/catching, baserunning, hitting, and fielding throughout the 8 weeks)

Hour/Session 3 (6:00 - 7:00pm):  AAA, Majors & Juniors/Seniors catching

(2) GROUP PITCHING CLINIC @ OLNEY PARK (Coach Sabrina)

MLL is pleased that Sabrina Moore will once again lead our fall pitching clinic. Sabrina will hold 45-minute group sessions for girls of all ages and experience, on Sundays from September 8th - October 13th.

Registration: Registration is completed through THIS SignUpGenius. To guarantee your spot, you must sign up for each week individually.  Note - you are not required to keep the same time slot every Sunday.

Cost: The cost per girl for the entire 6-session clinic is $120 (additional siblings are 1/2 price).  Sabrina accepts cash, check, Zelle, Paypal and Venmo.  Checks should be made payable to Sabrina Moore and brought to the first session.  Zelle/PayPal to [email protected] or (703) 346-0207.  Venmo to @sabrina-moorw (note the w).  

Location: The clinic sessions will be held outdoors at Olney Park, 1840 Olney Road, Falls Church, VA 22043 (Field 1).  It is possible that some sessions will move to other venues in the event of inclement weather or other conflicts.

Dates: Clinics will be held on 6 Sundays starting Sept. 8 and ending Oct. 13.  In the case of bad weather - the first rainout will not be made up.  If there are 2+ cancellations, we will hold a makeup (date TBD).  

Times:  The times for the clinic sessions each Sunday are as follows:

· 1:00-1:45

· 1:45-2:30

· 2:30-3:15

Please note that if the headcount is low on certain days, we may combine time slots. Alternatively, if headcount exceeds availability, we may add time slots.

Catchers: Pitchers must supply their own catchers, generally a parent. Parents should bring a glove and may wish to also bring a bucket or chair to sit on. If a non-adult (such as a sibling) is catching, the non-adult must wear face protection such as a catcher's mask.

ALL LEVELS WELCOME:  This is truly an excellent opportunity to learn proper pitching technique and highly recommended for our developing/beginner pitchers through our most experienced pitchers.
